Adventures in 2-D: 

(ages Kindergarten - 7 years)

Students will explore the principles of drawing and painting -  line, shape, color, texture, space. They will create layered works of art works mixing the media of pencil, ink, watercolor, pastels, acrylic, and collage materials on surfaces such as paper, canvas and wood. Students will acquire the language of art making, developing a true “artist’s” vocabulary as, during class, they become familiar with the materials, tools, techniques, styles, artists, and artistic movements of the world of art.

Layering with Pencil Techniques: 

(ages 10 - 14 years)

Instructor: Julie Rosenthale 

Tuition:  $185

We will do an in depth study of pencils - graphite and color, learning about the different types of pencil lead, how to create textures and effects. We will explore essential techniques, materials and concepts for learning to draw in color and black & white.

 

Art Hand-in-Hand: 

(ages 18 mos. - 4 years)

Tuition:   $190

Designed for child and caregiver to enjoy together, Art Hand in Hand offers toddlers and preschoolers an introduction to the world of art through an array of child-friendly, yet real artist’s materials.  The morning of art includes guided art projects as well as time to wander and explore the various art stations in the studio.

Mixed Media

(ages Kindergarten - 7 years)

Tuition:  $200

Students will explore a variety of media such as acrylics, collage, watercolors, pastels, pen & ink, printmaking, sculpture, colored pencils, clay and much more.  They will acquire the language of art making, developing a true “artist’s” vocabulary as, during class, they become familiar with the materials, tools, techniques, styles, artists, and artistic movements of the world of art.

 

 

A Term of Art

(ages 7 - 9 years)

Instructor:  Julie Rosenthale

Tuition:  $200

Students will create a series of layered, mixed media pieces, with a special emphasis on planning, sketching and personal choice of subject matter within each assignment.   We will explore a variety of media such as acrylics, collage, watercolors, pastels, pen & ink, printmaking, sculpture, colored pencils, and more.  We will use examples of art in the world as sources for inspiration, and become familiar with with the materials, tools, techniques, styles, artists, and artistic movements of the world of art along the way.

 

 

Mixed Media

(ages 3 1/2 - 5 years)

Instructor:  Meta Arnold

Tuition:  $190

Students will explore a variety of media such as acrylics, collage, watercolors, pastels, pen & ink, printmaking, sculpture, colored pencils, clay and much more. Leadweight: A Study with Pencils

(ages 9 - 12 years)

Instructor: Julie Rosenthale

Tuition: $200

Draw, overlay, burnish, scumble, hatch, scribble, stipple, layer. This class will be heavy on the pencils - graphite and color.  Exploring the realistic and the whimsical, we will draw our way through this session, sharpening our drawing pencil knowledge, practice and skills along the way.

 

   Art Lab

(ages 4 - 6 years)

Instructor: Barbara DiLorenzo

Tuition:  $180

Students will join us for a session of creative discovery to encourage the artistic spirit!  We will intersperse our instruction of tools and techniques with an exploration of the studio’s wide variety of materials, combining them to create layered pieces.  The experience will allow for the students to develop basic art skills combined with their own imaginative choices.

 

 

 

  Foundations*

(ages 7 - 9 years)

Instructor: Julie Rosenthale

      Tuition: $140

During this four class series, we will become familiar with many of the material & technical building blocks of art-making:  understanding perspective, creating balance & composition, creating textures, shading, types of pencils, pencil work, applying paint, types of brushes, the color wheel, etc -  all the while, giving this exploration creative application by making works of art along the way!  This class will not repeat the projects and lessons from the Fall session…we will build upon our learning, but having taken the Fall session is not a pre-requisite…new students welcome*!
